RAM Trucks Normally Have Flickering Issues!

Ram trucks normally have flickering issues!

Why RAM Headlights Flicker

If you’ve installed LED or HID bulbs in a RAM truck, you already know the struggle.

Flickering headlights.
Lights that shut off after a few seconds.
“Bulb out” warnings on the dash.

RAM trucks use complex CANBUS and PWM electrical systems. Because of that, they constantly monitor headlight circuits. When the system detects unusual current draw, it reacts. Sometimes it dims the light. Other times it shuts it down completely.

As a result, many LED installs fail without proper support modules.

The Old Way: Resistor Harnesses

Initially, installers used large resistor harnesses to fix these issues. While that method worked, it created new problems.

You had to:

  • Mount bulky resistors

  • Find a safe metal surface

  • Deal with excess heat

Consequently, installation became messy and time-consuming.

The Better Solution: PWM Interface Modules

Fortunately, there’s now a cleaner solution.

Headlight Revolution developed a simplified plug-and-play system for 2006–2008 Ram 1500 models.

The system starts with GTR Lighting Ultra Series LED Headlight Bulbs. These bulbs pair well with RAM’s CANBUS wiring. They produce a crisp 6,000K white color and strong output:

  • 3,700 raw lumens per bulb

  • 1,800 effective lumens

Install them like a standard halogen bulb. However, make sure the reflector cup faces upward like a bowl. Proper orientation ensures the correct beam pattern.

Next, attach the GTR Lighting PWM Interface Module to the bulb.

PWM stands for Pulse Width Modulation. RAM uses this system to dim halogen bulbs and manage electrical load. The interface module stabilizes that signal. Therefore, the LED bulbs receive consistent power.

Finally, plug the other end of the module into the truck’s factory headlight connector.

That’s it. No resistors. No complicated wiring.

Real-World Brightness Results

We tested the output at 25 feet.

  • Factory halogen bulbs: 678 Lux

  • GTR Ultra Series LED bulbs: 1,284 Lux

That’s a 190% increase in measured brightness.

Not only do you eliminate flicker, but you also dramatically improve visibility.

Final Thoughts

RAM trucks present wiring challenges. However, the right components solve them.

Instead of fighting resistors and error codes, use a purpose-built PWM module with quality LED bulbs. As a result, you get stable output and serious performance gains.
