Establishing the Benchmark

Better Automotive Lighting
Imagine driving down a dark road, the inadequate glow of your stock halogen headlights barely illuminating the path ahead. You squint, trying to see what lies beyond the dim light. Now, picture the same road, but this time, your car’s headlights shine bright and clear, revealing every detail with ease. Sounds like a dream, right? Well, you can make that dream a reality by upgrading your 10th-generation Honda Civic’s headlights to high-performance LED bulbs. In this blog, we’ll walk you through the top LED headlight options, their performance, and an easy installation guide to make your nighttime driving experience safer and more enjoyable.

Establishing the Benchmark

Before we dive into the top LED headlight options, let’s establish the benchmark by measuring the maximum lux of the original halogen low beams. Using a digital lux meter, we measured 93 lux at 25 feet from the wall.

Top LED Headlight Options for Your 10th-Gen Civic

We will focus on three top-performing bulbs in terms of brightness, beam pattern, and quality:
  1. Morimoto 2Stroke 3.0
  2. SV.4 Bulb
  3. GTR Lighting Ultra 2
Remember, upgrading your Civic’s headlights requires an H11 bulb type for the low beam and a 9005 bulb for the high beam.

Comparing Beam Patterns and Brightness

Let’s compare the brightness and beam patterns of these LED bulbs against the stock halogen bulbs:
  • Stock Halogen Bulbs: 93 maximum lux
  • Morimoto 2Stroke 3.0: 510 lux, a 448% increase in brightness
  • SV.4 Bulb: 665 lux, a 615% increase in brightness
  • GTR Lighting Ultra 2: 658 lux, a 608% increase in brightness
While the SV.4 Bulb is the brightest, any of these options will provide a significant improvement over your stock halogen bulbs.

Upgrading Your High Beams

For consistent color and performance, upgrade your high beams as well. Here are the results of our high beam tests:
  • Stock High Beam: 308 maximum lux
  • Morimoto 2Stroke 3.0: 780 lux, a 153% increase in brightness
  • SV.4 Bulb: 2240 lux, a 627% increase in brightness
  • GTR Lighting Ultra 2: 2473 lux, an incredible 703% increase in brightness
Installing your new LED bulbs is a breeze. Follow these simple steps:
  1. Open the hood of your car.
  2. Remove the low beam H11 bulb by turning it counterclockwise and pulling it out.
  3. Disconnect the original connector from the H11 bulb.
  4. Plug in your chosen LED bulb and push it back into the headlight housing, turning it clockwise to lock it in place.
  5. Repeat the process with the high beam 9005 bulb.
