Diode Dynamics Toyota Blade Bed Light: No-Wire LED Fix
Adding light to your truck bed usually means running wires, tapping into a power source, and spending an afternoon fishing cables through panels. The new Diode Dynamics Toyota Blade Bed Light throws that whole hassle out the window. When we got our hands on this new bed light for the Toyota Tacoma and Tundra, we were genuinely surprised at how simple it is. There is no wiring, no drilling, and no fuss. It is a battery powered LED lamp designed to do one job well: put bright, usable light exactly where you need it. In this spotlight we walk through what makes it special, how it performs, and how we installed it in about five minutes.

What Is the Diode Dynamics Toyota Blade Bed Light?
The Blade Light is a brand new bed light designed specifically for the Toyota Tacoma and Tundra. If you have ever tried to load gear, find a tool, or work out of the back of your truck after dark, you already understand the problem it solves. Most factory beds are dark, and aftermarket solutions almost always require some form of wiring. The folks at Diode Dynamics took a different approach here, building a self-contained lamp that mounts directly into your truck bed’s accessory rail with no electrical work at all.
One detail that stood out to us is who actually builds this thing. According to the video, the Blade Light was created in partnership with B Lighting, a premium UK manufacturer. That collaboration shows in the fit and finish. This is a purpose-built piece of hardware, not a generic light with a Toyota badge slapped on it.

Built to Handle the Elements
A bed light lives outside. It gets rained on, dusted, and beaten up by whatever you haul. The Blade Light is weatherproof and water tested, which is exactly what you want from something mounted in an open truck bed. We appreciate that this was designed with real world abuse in mind rather than being an indoor-grade accessory forced into an outdoor role. If you have been searching for a reliable Toyota Tacoma bed light, durability is a big part of the equation, and this one checks that box.
How Bright Is It?
Brightness matters more than anything else when you are trying to get work done in the dark. The Blade Light puts out a powerful, bright 5500K white light at 350 lumens. That 5500K color temperature gives you a clean, neutral white that makes it easy to see colors and details accurately, which is helpful when you are sorting gear or working on a project. The 350 lumen output is plenty to load up, find your gear, or work out of the back of your truck after dark without straining your eyes.

The Automatic Shutoff Timer
We have all done it. You turn on a light, grab what you need, and walk away with it still glowing. Since the Blade Light runs on batteries, a forgotten light could drain your power. Diode Dynamics thought about that. The lamp features an automatic 5-minute shutoff timer, so even if you forget to turn it off, it will handle that for you. This small touch is exactly the kind of practical thinking that makes a battery powered light actually usable long term instead of becoming a dead lamp the next time you need it.

Zero Wiring, Fully Battery Powered
This is the headline feature and the reason so many people will want one. There is zero wiring to deal with. The Blade Light is completely battery powered, running on four AA batteries that live inside the lamp. That means no tapping into your truck’s electrical system, no relays, no switches to wire, and no risk of voiding anything by cutting into factory harnesses. It also means you can mount it anywhere along the bed rail without worrying about whether power can reach that spot. Simple to use, simple to mount, and ready wherever you are.
How We Installed the Blade Light
We timed the install and it really does take about five minutes. The best part is the tool list. All you need is a Phillips screwdriver and a 3/32 Allen wrench. That is it. No specialty tools, no crimpers, no drilling. Here is exactly how we did it.
Step 1: Load the Batteries
To get started, unclip the two plastic tabs to open up the battery compartment. Pull out the carrier and pop in the four included AA batteries. Once they are in, slide the carrier back into the housing and snap the cover shut. This is the only power source the light needs, which is what makes the whole no-wiring approach possible.

Step 2: Swap the Mounting Hardware
Next, grab your Phillips head screwdriver and swap the pre-assembled hardware for the included screw and T-slot nut. There is one important detail here that is easy to miss: make sure the curved corner of the nut is facing to the right. Getting the orientation correct is what allows the nut to slide into the accessory rail properly. Once the hardware is swapped, slide the end cap onto the light pole and head out to the truck.

Step 3: Mount It in the Bed Rail
Locate your bed rails and slide the T-slot nut into the accessory rail at the notch. From there, position the lamp exactly where you want the light aimed, then tighten it down with your 3/32 Allen wrench. That is all there is to it. You end up with a clean, bright light installed in about five minutes with no wires trailing anywhere. Because it mounts into the factory accessory rail, you can also reposition it later if you decide a different spot works better for how you use your bed.

Who Is This For?
If you own a Toyota Tacoma or Tundra and you have ever fumbled around in a dark bed, this light is worth a serious look. Campers, overlanders, contractors, and anyone who loads or unloads after sunset will get real value from it. The combination of a clean 5500K output, weatherproof construction, and a completely wire-free install makes it one of the easiest upgrades you can add to your truck. There is very little to think about here: drop in four AA batteries, slide it into the rail, and you are done.
We also like that it does not commit you to a permanent modification. Since nothing is wired in and nothing is drilled, the Blade Light can move with you or come off entirely if you ever need it to. That flexibility is rare in the bed lighting world, where most options are hardwired and stay put.
Final Thoughts
After testing and installing the Blade Light, our takeaway is simple. This is the kind of product that solves an everyday problem without creating new ones. It skips the wiring headaches, it is genuinely bright, it is built to survive the weather, and the automatic shutoff means you will not accidentally kill the batteries. The five minute install with just two common tools is the icing on the cake. The Toyota Blade Light is available now directly through Diode Dynamics or through their dealer locator tool if you prefer to buy local. If you have been putting off adding light to your truck bed because of the wiring, this is your easy way in.
