What Is the LED F1 Flasher Module?
The GTR Lighting LED flasher module, often called the “F1 Flasher,” adds a rapid flash pattern to your third brake light. It activates when you press the brake pedal. The light flashes several times quickly. Then it stays solid until you release the pedal.
Press the brakes again and the sequence repeats.
This module works best with LED third brake lights on cars and trucks. Some drivers also install it on their full rear brake system. That setup works well as long as total current draw stays under 10 amps. Most LED-only rear lighting systems fall well below that limit.
Why Use a Brake Light Flasher?
You can find dozens of lighting flash products online. Some create wig-wag patterns. Others flash continuously. Many focus on style more than function.
This flasher module focuses on safety.
When you brake, the rapid flash grabs attention immediately. Drivers behind you react faster because the pulsing light stands out from normal brake lamps. After the quick burst, the light remains steady. That steady output still meets normal braking visibility expectations.
The goal is simple: make sure drivers behind you notice that you are slowing down.
It looks cool. However, its main purpose is to improve rear-end collision awareness.
How the Flash Pattern Works
The operation is straightforward:
-
You press the brake pedal.
-
The third brake light flashes rapidly several times.
-
The light switches to a steady beam.
-
You release the pedal and the system resets.
Each time you press the brakes, the module repeats the same pattern. It performs the same quick attention-grabbing burst every time.
That consistency keeps it functional without becoming distracting.
Simple, Foolproof Installation
Installation takes very little time.
You only deal with two wires. First, locate the positive power wire for your third brake light. Next, cut that wire. Then connect one flasher wire to each cut end. The module installs inline with the power circuit.
That’s it.
You do not need complicated programming. You do not need extra control boxes. The module works as soon as you reconnect power.
Built for Real-World Conditions
GTR Lighting designed this LED flasher to handle outdoor exposure. The internal circuit board sits inside black silicone potting. That silicone seals out moisture and vibration.
Because of that design, you can mount the module in areas exposed to the elements. Many third brake light wiring locations sit near liftgates or exterior panels. The waterproof construction protects the electronics in those conditions.
Durability matters for any lighting component. This module delivers it.
Is It Worth It?
If you want a simple safety upgrade, this LED brake light flasher makes sense. Most importantly, it increases visibility when you brake. Sometimes the smallest upgrades create the biggest difference.
